Rector's Message

Aspiring to become “The University of Industry and the World of Technology,” OSTİM Technical University’s primary objective is to educate graduates who are capable of transforming scientific and technological knowledge into practical applications. We aim to achieve this objective through strong collaboration with the business community, industrial enterprises, and the public sector, within the industrial ecosystem at the heart of which our University is located. By complementing these strategic advantages with education, research, and applied-learning infrastructure and facilities that meet international standards, OSTİM Technical University seeks to play an influential role in the priority areas of industry and the economy, particularly in the development of innovative technologies and entrepreneurship models.

Our University is committed to cultivating highly qualified human capital for Türkiye’s future by educating graduates who possess the knowledge and competencies required by today’s competitive business environment. It aims to develop individuals who are broad-minded, original, inquisitive, and committed to seeking solutions; who learn through practice, design, produce, and create sustainable value; and who are innovative, creative, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to achieving professional competence. The University further seeks to nurture graduates with a strong awareness of cultural diversity, the ability to work effectively in teams, the capacity both to lead and to collaborate under effective leadership, a deep commitment to human values, and a strong sense of responsibility toward society.

OSTİM Technical University is a third-generation university. Whereas second-generation universities, shaped by the revolution in the division of labour that emerged after the eighteenth century, primarily focused on scientific research and education, the transformation of the knowledge they produced into practical applications and commercial production was largely left to private enterprises. This separation gradually weakened collaboration between universities and industry and widened the distance between the two.

The third-generation, or entrepreneurial, university represents an approach that removes these rigid boundaries for the benefit of society and positions the university, together with industry, at the centre of production and innovation. In line with the demands of the contemporary era, university–industry collaboration forms the principal axis of education and training activities, with a particular focus on enhancing institutional capacity for patents, utility models, industrial designs, and brand development; promoting entrepreneurship and innovation; and generating economic value through commercialisation.

Guided by the principles of the entrepreneurial university, we will conduct our scientific and technological activities in close coordination with industry to generate added value for the national economy. By developing original projects and solutions, drawing on the expertise of our distinguished academic staff, and establishing the mechanisms necessary to transform knowledge into practical applications and commercially viable outcomes, we will contribute to the development of our region and our country. At the same time, we will strive to position OSTİM Technical University among the world’s leading universities in its fields of expertise.
