Pelin Tören Özgün (PTÖ) was born in Izmir. She graduated in 2005, from Izmir Atatürk High School (est. 1888), which is located in Izmir. PTÖ received her BSc degree with high honors from Chemical Engineering from Izmir Institute of Technology in 2011. Afterwards, she conducted her PhD studies on silicon-based optical microresonators for label-free biosensing applications. In 2016, she received her PhD degree from National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) at Ihsan Dogramaci Bilkent University (Ankara, Türkiye), in Materials Science and Nanotechnology. Within the same year, she started working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Joanneum Research under Materials Institute - for Surface Technologies and Photonics - (Weiz, Austria). Following 2018, she continued working in Joanneum Research as a Research Associate until 2021. During her years in Joanneum Research, she contributed to the scientific research in various European Union projects, which mainly focused on the pilot-line development and production of disposable and polymer-based, fluidic in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) chips for DNA/protein detection purposes. One of those Horizon2020 projects (R2R Biofluidics) led by Joanneum Research, received Austrian Fast Forward award in 2018. In addition to that, with her co-workers, she published an article, which describes successfully the multiplexed DNA detection of the IVD chips produced via the pilot-line, in Lab on a Chip Journal (2020). The study was featured as „Inner Front Cover“ and high-lighted in Issue 22 of the journal. The same study received „Best Performance (Paper)“ award in the 10th Internal Joanneum Research Conference (i.e., „Zukunftskonferenz“) in Graz city in 2021. In September 2021, PTÖ returned back to home. Since June 2022, she has been working as an Assistant Professor in Ostim Technical University. PTÖ authored/co-authored ten scientific publications in high-ranking, international peer-reviewed journals. Among these scientific publications, there is also a review article on microresonators, which was published in Lab on a Chip Journal. To this day, PTÖ also attended leading national and international scientific conferences as a speaker. The research interests of PTÖ mainly focuses on Point-of-Care Diagnostic Systems, Lab-on-Chip Technologies, Biosensors, (Nano)Biomaterials, Biomedical Device Technologies, Photonic Sensors and Optical Microresonators.
